Hello Students,
Great job with your posts!
This post stayed in draft because we lost power yesterday here in Managua and I thought it was posted!
What is the main difference between a monotheist and polytheist religion? How can that influence the way we live our lives? What about the concept of the afterlife? Remember to write on your journal!
I wish you all a beautiful week-end.

Monotheism means a belief in one God. God is transcendent and omnipotent which means having total power over the universe. Polytheism is viewed in the form of many coexisting gods. This meaning each god is in charge of a certain aspect of reality. This influences our lives by having us believe whether one is in charge or there are more than one guiding our life. Afterlife meaning life after death or reincarnation means a part of an individuals identity or consciousness continues to reside after the death of the body in the individuals lifetime.
Polytheists have many gods, Monotheists have only ONE god.
There may be many spiritual entities recognized by a monotheist, but they will accept only ONE of those entities as the supreme being, ie God. A polytheist will accept any number of spiritual entities as gods. I think this can influence the way we live because is we are monotheistic, we will only believe in one god, therefore, we will pray to one god only. In the other hand, if we were polytheistic we will pray to mane gods depending in the situation we are passing by, for example if we have a medical problem we pray to one kind of god and if we have economical problems we pray to another type of god and so on.
The concept of after life is based on reincarnation where you find life after being death in another new body.
The difference between polytheists and monotheists is that polytheists believe in many gods but they only hold one as the MAIN one they believe in, and monotheist believes in one and only one God. The concept of after life is based on reincarnation where you find life after being death in another new body. I believe that it is better to be monotheistic because it allows us to just have one set of believes and morals we can live our lives upon. Because if you are polytheists you believe in many things and at the end of it believing in everything is the same as not knowing anything at all.

Monotheism is the belief in one single all powerful God, while Polytheism is believing in one deity out of many others, or worshipping different deities at different times. The only way I see how this can influence our lives is strictly within religion and on who we pray to in bad situations. A polytheist would pray to a certain deity that has to deal with their specific situation, and a monotheist would pray to the one God they have always prayed to. The afterlife is the concept where one believes in life after death or reincarnation. So they believe their actions while alive will affect their reincarnated state.
The differences between polytheistic religions and monotheistic ones are based on the principles of how many god or gods each denomination belief. Furthermore, polytheistic religions believe in many gods, more than one god, whereas the monotheistic believe in just one God. Examples of monotheistic religions are Judaism, Islam, and Christianity; example of polytheistic religion is Hinduism. The way this can influence the way we live is pretty much based on the fact of what religion you belong to or which one you practice. For people who believe that there is only one God, they direct their lives in just one direction and in just one ideology, meanwhile the other who believe in many gods, then they direct their lives according to the tradition and writings about every god they believe in. To people who do not believe, not believers, for then it does not really matter, they just continue to be the same way. The concept of after life is the belief that when we died our lives do not end there, yet we continue living either in another body or in heaven, depend on what you believe in.
Polytheistic has no limitation on its number of gods which is more than 1, like Hinduism and Shintoism. Monotheist religions recognise only one god, like Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. A person who is polytheistic worships many gods, giving equal weight to the worship of each one. The monotheist worships one god, period. In his worship, there is only one deity, generally named directly. Afterlife is an existence after death, also called future life.
monotheistic people believe in one god and that that one god holds all power above anyone else or the universe. In a polytheistic point of view their is many or commingled gods that hold certain powers more than others. This can change or guide the course to ones life because one may believe that they have to live life a certain way to please these gods and do certain cerimonies in which to honor these gods. Thus reancarnation is a big part of this because in the belief the way you live your life now will have an impact on how yu will be reancarnated and what you will become or how your life will be after your previous lifes death..
Monotheism is religious worship centered around one deity or god and polytheism is when there is more than one god. That affects the way we live our lives because depending on what situations you go through, you might pray to different deities. For example, I was raised Catholic and sometimes my mom would pray to St Jude for dire situations and other times would pray to St Michael depending on the situation.
The concept of the afterlife is that part of a person who dies goes to a special place-such as the Christian promise of heaven as a reward for living a virtuous life. Some religions also believe in reincarnation, that person's soul returns in the form of another living being. The belief in an afterlife may be a sort of comfort to the followers of a religion and may be what keeps them abiding by religious rules.
Monotheist means the belief in one god
polytheist means the belief of many gods.
many religions are monotheist and polytheist for example Jews, Christians, Muslims are monotheists only believe and follow one god.those who believe in one god are to believe in an after life. But Buddhism and hinduism believe in multiple gods which are called polytheists. usually people of those believe believe in reincarnation.
A monotheistic religion revolves around a single god. A polytheistic religion revolves around more than one god. A person's life can be influenced by their beliefs in monotheism or polytheism because it determines the number of gods they pray to. The afterlife is the concept of life after death and different religions have different views on what the afterlife entails. Reincarnation is strongly connected to the concept of the afterlife and for some religions instead of the soul continuing on into another realm, the soul begins a new life in a new body on earth.
The main difference between a monotheist religion and a polytheist religion is that one believes in one omnipotent, omniscient, god; while the other believes in many gods and worship them as separate almighty gods, usually each god represents a specific mortal trait, and they are perfect at that trait. You can tell them apart because mono means one, while poly means many.
In Greek mythology, different groups of people focused on a specific god even though they believed in them all. Athena for instance was the god of victory and forethought, usually during times of war they would pray to this god to help them win the battles. Modern day religions all seem to be monotheist religions, all of the main ones at least. It influences our lives every single day, for instance our laws are based off religious texts.
Many religions believe in a heaven and a hell, a good place and a bad place. One for good individuals and one for bad, as determined by the religious teaching. On the other hand some religions believe in reincarnation until enlightenment.
Monotheism is the belief in one God such as in Catholicism. A polytheist religion is one that holds the belief in multiple Gods like that of the Hindu Religion. This can influence the way one lives their life because by believing in one God one holds all of their faith in one higher power, while believing in multiple Gods allows one to reach out to multiple higher powers for spiritual guidance. The type of religion that is followed in one’s life greatly influences what the norms for their morality are. The concept of afterlife varies per religion in the sense that those who believe in one God are more likely to believe that there is life beyond our current spirituality and those who believe in multiple Gods may believe that life is recycled such as that in reincarnation.
Monotheistic religions only believe in one god. This god holds control of all aspects of the universe. Monotheistic religions believe in an afterlife, as in life after death. Polytheistic religions believe in several deities. Hinduism which is a polytheistic religion believes in reincarnation. Reincarnation is the concept that after death we are born in a new body based on how we lived the previous life.
Monotheism is the believe in one God while Polytheism is the believe in many Gods. Everyone is entitled to believe in whatever they want to as long as it makes them happy and that it fulfills the spiritual aspect of us.
Many religions believe in the concept of an afterlife which means that essential parts of a person's identity remains in earth even after death.
polytheism is a belief of many gods or more than one, montheism means a belief of one god. Polytheists do not always worship all the gods equally specializing in the worship of one particular deity or can worship different deities at different times.Reincarnation is strongly connected to the concept of the afterlife and for some religions instead of the soul continuing on into another realm, the soul begins a new life in a new body on earth.

Polytheism is the belief in many gods while monotheisn is the belief of only one god. Poly meaning many and mono meaning one. Although in Catholism there are many saints and divine beings there is only one god and they are ranked in order of power. While in Hinduism all gods are equal but have different powers. I think the idea of an after life can affect our view of reality in the sense that some feel like they can mess up because they will come back. While others know they only have one life to live so they better make it count. It is all based on perception.
Monotheist religion means that the people only have one and belief in one god. Polytheist religion means that the people belief in and worship of many gods. I think religion can influence our life a lot. For example, when we are in an extremely dangerous situation, we can pray for god bless. In philosophy, religion, mythology, and fiction, the afterlife the concept of a realm, or the realm itself ,in which an essential part of an individual's identity or consciousness continues to reside after the death of the body in the individual's lifetime. According to various ideas of the afterlife, the essential aspect of the individual that lives on after death may be some partial element, or the entire soul, of an individual, which carries with it and confers personal identity. Belief in an afterlife, which may be naturalistic or supernatural, is in contrast to the belief in eternal oblivion after death.
By definition monotheism is the belief in, and worship of, one god only. Polytheism is, by definition, the belief in, and worship of, many gods and/or goddesses. Both polytheistic and monotheistic religions have existed for thousands of years. At this time, there is no way of knowing which came first. However, this is the subject of frequent debate. There is, and always will be, many events in history that modern man is unaware of. Therefore, this matter will probably never be decided on. Human beings, apparently alone among all the life forms on earth, are aware that their life is finite. According to many theologians and mental health professionals, one of the main comforts that people obtain from their religious faith is the assurance that life will not end at their death. They believe that it will continue in some form for all eternity.
Reasons for the widespread belief in an afterlife might be the desire for justice. In some sections of the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament) the reward for righteous behavior is said to be a long life and many children. But this does not necessarily work out in practice. The world is often not a very fair place: Many good people die young, and childless. Good people sometimes suffer in poverty and/or with disease. Many evil people lead rewarding, rich, healthy, and long lives. Many religions offer a belief in the afterlife that includes a resolution to the justice problem. If there is a final judgment after death, and if some people go to eternal punishment Hell while others go to an eternal reward in Heaven, then evil will be ultimately punished; goodness will be eventually rewarded. The scales of justice, which do not seem to be particularly well balanced on earth may be compensated for after death

Even if we label the oldest known religion on Earth as the certain victor, there will always be a difference between oldest known and oldest.
Monotheistic Religions have christianity and Judaism, etc.
Polytheistic Religions have buddahism and Wicca ect.
